TMZ reports that Beyonce lip-synched her performance at the Inauguration yesterday choosing to use a pre-recorded track instead of singing live, unlike Kelly Clarkson, who did sing live. Say it ain’t so, Bee?
Beyonce did remove her “inner ear” ear piece during the performance. That could have been simply because the music was too loud. I should point out that Whitney Houston also lip-synched her most famous rendition of the national anthem at the Super Bowl in 1991.
The former Queen of Daytime Talk, one Miz Oprah Winfrey, proves she can still pull in the big names. Today, Oprah announced her worldwide exclusive interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. Is Lance going to confess? There had been rumors all week that he might come clean, no pun intended.
Oprah’s press release says, “In the interview, Winfrey speaks with Armstrong at his home in Austin, Texas in the only interview since the seven-time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles and dropped from millions of dollars in endorsement deals after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released an extensive report accusing the renown cyclist of doping throughout his career. Armstrong was given a lifetime ban on competing professionally. Late last year, Armstrong resigned as chairman of the foundation he created, Livestrong, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.”
I smell confession, folks!!! The 90-minute Thursday night episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will air January 17 (9:00 – 10:30 p.m. ET/PT) on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
Now THAT is must-see TV!
Happy 2013, everyone! Hope it was safe and sound for everyone!!! My goal for 2013 is to blog more. Between work and life… finding time has been hard, but I am going to force myself to do it!!! I am, I am tell you!!!
I am also excited to announce that I have reclaimed my Internet name. The official name of this blog has been franklyHANKblog.com. That was because someone stole my name and I could not use franklyHANK.com unless I paid some serious cash for it. Well, waiting it out paid off b/c now, once again, I own franklyHANK.com (and it only cost me $10)!!! So my blog is now officially franklyHANK.com.
There is a ton of pop culture and celebrity stuff coming up in 2013. Check me out on WINDY CITY LIVE to see what you can look froward to in 2013, including Oscar nominations coming out this week.
Have you seen the new Macy’s commercial? It features actor Edmund Gwenn (Kris Kringle) from the original “Miracle On 34th Street” digitally edited with Macy’s biggest celebrity names including Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Tommy Hilfiger and a very funny turn from one Martha Stewart. I LOVE the original film and this is a fun way for Macy’s to bring about some holiday spirit!!! Check it out below!
Deadline.com is reporting EXCLUSIVELY that SETH MACFARLANE will host the Oscars next February on ABC. MacFarline is known for being the creator of “Family Guy” and the box office smash, “Ted.”
It’s a bold choice for the Academy and a good one, I say. Seth will bring younger viewers to the screen and hopefully hip up what has been an otherwise boring awards show in years past.
What do you think???
This week NBC’s “The Voice” launched it’s third season and, as always, there was some great talent, but two Chicagoans really stood out for me. On Tuesday, we met De’Borah, a Chicago Heights woman who embraced who true self at age 18 and was kicked out of her church choir for doing so. HER CHURCH CHOIR! Really, people? Where is the love? Well she got some love on “The Voice.” Check out her performance below. She is on Team Xtina (That’s Christina Aguilera’s team, for those up with the shorthand).
On Wednesday night, we met Julio Castillo. Julio is also from Chicago and the first contestant on “The Voice” to sing entirely in spanish and you can tell the judges loved it. La La La La La Bamba!!! He ended up on Team Blake. Check him out below.
I’ll be talking more about both of them Friday, September 14, 2012 on “Windy City LIVE,” 9AM on ABC7 Chicago.
So an “American Idol” “source” tells The Hollywood Reporter that Enrique Iglesias is no longer in contention for a spot as a judge on Idol and that Randy Jackson is back at the judges’ table. Hmmmm. And this “news” comes out on the same night that NBC premieres “The Voice.” If I were doing finger quotes in the air right now, my pointers would be exhausted. Whew.
Anyway! Coincidence? I say not. Sounds like a well-placed story from a P.R. flack to get some buzz on “Idol” to hopefully over shadow “The Voice.” And I guess it’s working b/c I am writing about this and “The Voice.”
In any case, I knew Randy Jackson was not going too far away from Idol. He’s Mariah Carey’s manager. He got her on the show and there is no way she is going to let him go anywhere. Somebody has to keep her from slapping the you know what out of Nicki Minaj.
We should know soon enough who the judges will be on Idol since auditions should be happening with the celeb judges fairly soon. Stay tuned, ya’ll…
MTV must be in a generous mood. It announced today that the upcoming sixth season of “Jersey Shore” will be the last. CAN I GET A WITNESS? The show made millionaires of buffoons and introduced us to something called “Snooki.” I’m just glad it’s done, but I can’t believe MTV would give up it’s most successful franchise entirely. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some ridiculous series on Snooki and her kid or “The Situation does Vegas.” Maybe he can take pointers from Prince Harry?
Will there ever be a day when I do a Lindsay Lohan story and it’s good news? It seems Lindsay has gotten into some financial trouble with the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood. According to TMZ, Lindsay claims the producers of her Lifetime movie, “Liz & Dick”, are responsible for her $46,000 hotel bill. That’s not a typo folks! TMZ says Lindsay was blowing through the mini-bar like crazy including $3100 in charges and nearly $700 in cigarettes. The hotel has even banned her until the bill is paid. Lindsay may believe that the producers should be paying, but that doesn’t explain why she hasn’t responded to the hotel’s requests since July or had someone look into it.
Lindsay, time to grow up little girl! Liz would definitely not approve. By the way, you can see Lindsay’s GIANT hotel bill here. It’s a whopper!!!
I do declare! All eyes will be on Lifetime come Sunday, October 7, 2012 (9pmET/8pmCT). That’s when the network will air it’s all African-American cast remake of “Steel Magnolias” starring Queen Latifah as ‘M’Lynn’ along with Phylicia Rashad as ‘Clairee,’ Adepero Oduye as ‘Annelle,’ Condola Rashad as ‘Shelby,’ Jill Scott as ‘Truvy’ and Alfre Woodard as ‘Ouiser.’
While I can’t believe anyone would try to remake such an original movie with such a stellar cast, I have to admit that I really do want to see the Lifetime version. Some very talented actresses will be filling some very big shoes. Bring it, ladies! Who are you most excited to see?
